Army: Air Force Footlocker Trunk -Orig. Here we have a travel trunk belonging to at least one soldier in the United States Army: Air Force division (at the time). With as many stenciled travel stamps that are painted on the outside (see pictures), one could assume it may have been used by more than one individual. There are two fully in tact tags on one end, and the remnants of another tag on one of the front locks that has been left in place. The front left latch is a bit bent (as in the picture). That said, both latches are fully functional, and extremely sturdy. There is no key, though these are pretty standard, should you decide to use the lock. The United States Air Force actually split from the Army as its own entity in 1947. ARMY: AIR FORCE proves that it was at least being used prior to that time, though the other tag is appears to be dated 1954. So this trunk was in use for soldiers for at least seven years or more. This is an amazing historical piece that could be used as a conversation piece, a museum entry, or an awesome addition to your man cave! The could be used as a bench, table, or simply continue being a great place for storage at the foot of a bed! Please send any questions! The measurements of the outside of the trunk. 17 x 31 an 13 tall. Add another 1 total from front to back to include front locks and back hinges. Add another 2.5 total from end to end to account for the 1.25 protrusion of each handle. With tray set inside (it sits on two rails 2 down from the top), the bottom has about a 7 capacity.
