WW2 Officer dress uniform jacket US Army Air force Corp USAF PILOT NAME grouping
WW2 Officer dress uniform jacket US Army Air force Corp USAF PILOT NAME grouping. Here is your chance to own a beautiful officer’s grouping. NAMED to Garrett Abram Veeder, a pilot within the 9th Air Force, 323rd Bomb Group. He flew 26 missions as a B-26 Marauder pilot against Germany and occupied territories in Europe. There is even a period photo included of him wearing this exact uniform, and how fantastic is that? He was extremely well decorated and not only did he receive the Distinguished Flying Cross, but he was awarded the Air Medal with three oakleaf clusters. There is a crack on the one side of the wooden crate as can be seen in the photos. A fantastic set that certainly saw period use. Included in this listing. Button front officer’s uniform with internal 1942 dated tag. His hallmarked pilot’s wings are included but I do not have his ribbon bars. The uniform sports a bullion 9th Air Force patch as well as a bullion US Air Corps on the other shoulder. The US metal officer’s insignia, the sterling Captain’s bars, as well as the US Air Corps winged propellers are matched sets and true pairs. He has three bullion overseas bars sewn onto the sleeve and overall this is of the highest quality. His name is written in black on a tag in this uniform. Three garrison officer’s Air Corps caps, two khaki and one OD green. Named on the interior. OD Green US Ike jacket void of any insignia. Named in black in when he held the rank of Lieutenant. Two dress shirts, one OD green and the other khaki and of officer’s quality. Named to Veeder inside of the painted area. One the side of the wooden crate are two period affixed paper labels. The first is named and with his home address in New York. Dated I believe Auguste of 1945. The second label is for the Railway Express Agency. There is a crack on the other side of the box in the wood but the crate still functions and holds what it needs to. Personally, I think it really ties the grouping together. Two period photographs of Garret Abram Veeder including one where he is wearing the exact button front uniform included in this lot. That’s right, there’s even a photo of him wearing this exact jacket! I never grade my items as mint, even though may be.
