Vintage WW II US Army Air Forces Line of Sight Non-Liquid L-1 Wrist Compass
This vintage line of sight non-liquid wrist compass was owned by a member of the inaugural Army Ground Forces division of the Army of the United States during WW II. It has oodles of character with the dial having developed a lovely butterscotch patina. While this compass shows wear it has been well-preserved over the past 70 plus years. The back is stamped “COMPASS, WRIST, NONLIQUID” followed by TYPE L-1. 21051A, ORDER N° – AF – 11492″ and “U. ” The clear plastic casing is scratched and shows some cracking on the “YOU ARE LOOKING side which can be seen in the pictures. This compass measures approximately 46 mm in diameter, approximately 21 mm in depth and weighs approximately 35 grams. The strap, which is in surprisingly wonderful, NOS condition, measures approximately 14 mm in width and 218 mm in total length, excluding the buckle. The flared buckle shows no signs of oxidation.
