Gibson Girl Radio Transmitter BC-778 SCR-578 WW2 US Army Air Force Life Boat

Gibson Girl BC-778 / SCR-578 emergency radio transmitter for life boat rescue. This was standard issue during WW2 for aircraft that were flying over water, if your plane goes down you are in the inflatable fife raft. This radio would have been used in conjunction with a kite or balloon to raise the antenna, the radio is powered with a hand crank that is still in the back of the radio.
