WW2 US Army Air Forces USAAF 365th Fighter Squadron 5 Twill Jacket Patch CLEAN
This WW2 US Army Air Forces USAAF 365th Fighter Squadron 5 Twill Jacket Patch is in excellent, clean condition and appears to have never been issued or sewn onto a uniform. The patch measures 5″ in diameter and appears to be made from a twill material, it does not “glow when exposed to a UV light. Two photos show the patch under UV light on a reactive synthetic backing, the difference between the materials can be clearly noted. The color of the material and the stitching are very strong, preserving a wonderful amount of rich detail. No rips, tears, holes or stains can be detected and it truly appears as if this patch has been stored well. The 365th Fighter Squadron has a fascinating story and a well documented combat history. The unit began in Richmond, Virginia in January 1943 and was in England by October of the same year. The 365th most notably participated in the Normandy Invasion and escorted troop carrier planes that dropped US Army paratroopers on the Cotentin Peninsula on D-Day. The squadron saw action mopping up in France, during the Battle Of The Bulge and in the push across the Rhine River in 1945. This patch would be a strong addition to any advanced WW2 US patch collection and would be very difficult to upgrade. Please examine the photographs carefully for the best description of condition.
