VTG WW2 WWII US Army Air Force USAF M4A2 Anti-Flak Helmet

See pictures for condition. I DO NOT alter items in any way once they’re in my possession in order to keep the piece’s history as-is. As with all of my listings, please do your own research to confirm my findings. If you have any questions or need additional photos please let me know. This is a World War II era U. Army Air Forces (USAAF) M4A2 flak helmet, also known as the “Grow Flak Helmet”. It was designed for bomber crews to protect against shrapnel injuries from anti-aircraft “flak” fire. The helmet is covered in olive drab cloth and features folding ear covers with steel plates for protection in confined spaces like ball turrets. This example DOES NOT have both steel plates still intact. The M4A2 was introduced in June 1944 as a more compact version of the earlier M3 flak helmet. This specific helmet was made by Industrial Canvas Production Corporation and is marked “SAM” which may be the initials of the original wearer or their first name.
