Up for sale is an exceptional, 100% original WWII U. Army Four-Pocket Service Dress Coat (“Chocolates” style) packed with highly desirable aviation ground-crew history. This jacket was pulled directly from local estate storage and remains in authentic, un-messed-with condition. This jacket features a fascinating layered “re-issue” history with two clear names inside the neck lining. It was originally stenciled to a soldier named “BARNard” (Laundry Code B-0272). It was then re-issued to its second wartime owner, featuring a crisp, clear ink stamp reading: ALBERT Q. TYLER alongside his complete 8-digit Army Service Number: 12093116. He also hand-wrote his corresponding laundry mark “T-3116″ directly onto the lining. Enlistment records map him as a volunteer out of the NY/NJ region (Second Corps Area). INSIGNIA BREAKDOWN: – Left Shoulder Patch: United States Strategic Air Forces in Europe (USSTAF) – the elite high command that oversaw the 8th and 15th Air Forces. Right Sleeve Patch: Rare WWII Armament Specialist triangular patch (Golden aerial bomb on blue). Perfect for bomber crew/ordnance displays.
