WWII US Army Air Force Officer Pilot Service Uniform Jacket

Elcome to Soulful Vintage! This is a fantastic, original World War II era U. Army Air Forces (USAAF) officer’s khaki service uniform jacket. This style of four-pocket coat was a standard part of an officer’s wardrobe for summer wear or service in tropical climates. It features the iconic “Hap Arnold” emblem on the left sleeve, identifying the wearer as part of the Headquarters U. Army Air Forces command. A solid blue ribbon bar that most likely is for meritorious performance of duty is mounted above the left breast pocket. The jacket includes all original gold colored buttons, 10 in total, featuring the U. Army eagle insignia (Great Seal), used on both the main front closure, pockets, and the shoulder loops. The material is a lightweight gabardine or tropical worsted wool/cotton blend. Included with the jacket is the Houston Airport Inn wood hanger that came with the jacket. The provided measurements suggest this is roughly a men’s. Ize small to medium. Length (top of collar to hem). Sleeve Length (shoulder seam to cuff): 26. The jacket is in very good vintage condition, well cared for, with very minor wear. It has a teeny hole on the back – see last photo.
