WWII Era US Army Air Force AAF Type B-5 Mae West Life Preserver Vest – Nice Condition. Up for sale is a WWII US Army Air Force AAF Type B-5 Mae West Life Preserver Vest. This is the inflatable vest that was used by US Army Air Force Pilots during WWII. It was designed to be inflated by a CO2 cartridge or it can be manually inflated by the mouth inflation tube. The CO2 inflation mechanisms are still present. There is one inflator mechanisms and one manual inflation tube. The vest is flexible, not stiff and cracking. No rips or tears. The seam on the leather patch on the front is separated, see photo. It has all the straps. It is used, see photo’s for condition. It still has the US Army Air Force markings, however there is no visible manufacture date. The markings are faint, but readable.
