Is made of wood with the outer / exterior made of some kind of paper -a heavy duty kind for sure- but has some rough spots where it is peeling-off, appears to be water damage. Wood has marks/stains and rough spots but is in great shape considering its age and use – feels really solid! I think it did not have a hinge on the back for the lid.
