WW2 1st Army Air Forces Dual Service First Lieutenant Pinks & Greens Jacket Condition: very good for age & usage; could probably be dry-cleaned by new owner. NOTE: this jacket is quite heavy (almost 4lbs). Measurements: Shoulder, seam to seam: 18.5″ Chest, pit to pit: 21″ Waist: 18″ Length: 30″ Sleeve: 22 A tailored dress greens officer’s uniform, known as’the pinks & greens’, likely a gabardine wool blend. Fully lined with 3 brass buttons and one plastic button that hides under the included belt. This jacket is a great example of a dual unit insignia uniform, with the left shoulder insignia representing the wearer’s current (at that time) unit & the right shoulder insignia signifying the prior wartime service unit. EMBLEMS/PATCHES: Right Sleeve at Wrist: WW2 Meritorious Unit Citation Wreath Patch Right Shoulder right shoulder reserved for the Shoulder Sleeve Insignia – Former Wartime Service (SSI-FWTS), also known as the Combat patch: 1st Army Air Forces Sleeve Insignia Left Shoulder (represents current unit): Army Service Forces Sleeve Insignia Lapels: Artillery Insignia Found in the pocket of this uniform jacket are 4 very old letters, presumably from the wife & kids of the wearer (see pix).
